Voice-over Recording

I had written my script beforehand as I had timed the majority to fit within my 2-minute slot as I knew I would ramble on and not get the information I wanted with one. I had chosen to record this before filming so that I still had time to record the voice-over again if it went wrong or I wanted to change something after editing. Here are some photos of me recording my voice over. Sadly, I cannot share the full recording of my voice over which includes all my outtakes on this blog as the file is too large.

Filming Day

Before filming I wanted to use a two-point lighting setup in the studio when filming. When it came to filming I had realised that the shadows clashed a lot on the green screen. I had to choose either use a green screen or better lighting and I chose the green screen. This is because I wanted to use the green screen to change the background in post-production. I used the normal classroom lights as they had a more even light on the background. This was the light setup I had set up before deciding not to use the lights.

Editing

When it came to editing, I made 2 drafts of it, a ruff cut and the final version. I chose to do it this way as it allowed me to get feedback from Paul and Sam before submitting my final piece for this project.

Sam's written feedback.

This photo shows the written feedback I received from Sam after watching my ruff cut. My feedback included reshooting my "dutch angle shot" because it didn't suit what I was saying in my script, add some light background music for some depth, add a green screen background to the shots to give the video some location change and makes it more interesting, add a "Thanks for watching" section at the end of the video in the same style as the hello part, spell check the title screen as "Minutes" was spelt wrong, scale down the long shot for the green screen as there is a table in the shot and fix the dead frame at 1:33. I went in knowing that I wanted to add music and the greenscreen effect however it was good to receive a 2nd and 3rd opinions on my first video. I also like the idea of adding a "thanks for watching" section to the end as it ties the whole video together nicely.

This was the video I used to help me use the green-screen effect.
