"How to" Video Project

Evaluation

22/10/2020

This was the first stage of my project where I found out my topic for my "How to" video and my research on my topic - camera angles.

I had written my script beforehand as I had timed the majority to fit within my 2-minute slot as I knew I would ramble on and not get the information I wanted with one. I had chosen to record this before filming so that I still had time to record the voice-over again if it went wrong or I wanted...

Pre-production

16/10/2020

I have been tasked to create a "How To" Video on how to use different camera angles. Here is a mind map, using mind mup 2, to show my initial ideas for how I am going to create this video.

Types of Shots

13/10/2020

The Opening shot to a film is the viewer's first look into the world of the film. This means that it is important that this first scene works well to convey the story's main plot, perspective and character arcs. I personally like the opening shot with a catchy song and fast pace to pull me into the story.

Sound Design

09/10/2020

Vibrations caused by an object, like a clap or talking, causes the air surrounding it to vibrate. The vibrating air causes the human eardrum to vibrate, which the brain interprets as sound. Hard surfaces help sound to reverberate and softer surfaces absorb sound, the sounds in rooms like this are considered as "dry" or "dead".

Research

The systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. (Oxford Languages)

Lighting

02/10/2020

Lighting has three main purposes in film: it helps the audience where to look in a scene, it reflects the psychology of the subject being filmed and it can help define the genre of the film.
